I went barefoot as a kid (even outdoors) unless I am in the sand I don't do barefoot. And even then I wear shoes to the target destination.
When my Dad was growing up... he never wore shoes. The school made a rule that you had to wear shoes to school. He was sent home many a time cause he ditched his shoes somewhere between home and school. My poor G.ma Charma and the battle of the bullheaded (yep that's my Dad).
